Snapshots Included on every plan, up to a per-size limit (5 on Veloxa 1 and 2, 10 on Veloxa 4) $0.06 per GiB per month
Automatic backups Scheduled backups included, up to the size's backup allowance Weekly: 20% of the Droplet price. Daily: 30%
Server types System containers (start in seconds); full virtual machines are not offered in the current region yet Droplets
Managed web hosting Hosting plans from $9.99/mo: 3 sites, PHP, Node, Python or static, deployed from Git App Platform: 3 static-site apps free; app containers from $5/mo (512 MiB)
Managed databases Not offered. PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB and Redis are one-click apps you run yourself Managed PostgreSQL from $15.15/mo (1 vCPU, 1 GiB)

Regions 1: US East (Washington, DC area) 16 datacenters in 13 cities across North America, Europe, Asia and Australia

Size for size, each VeloxaHost VPS lists at about one sixth less than the matching Droplet. DigitalOcean's price includes a public IPv4 address and a stated transfer allowance. Compare the whole bill for your workload, not just the headline number.

Who should pick DigitalOcean

  • You need more than one region. DigitalOcean runs 16 datacenters in 13 cities. VeloxaHost runs one region, US East, in the Washington, DC area. If your users are in Europe, Asia or Australia, or you need servers in two places, DigitalOcean is the better fit today.
  • You want a managed database. DigitalOcean runs PostgreSQL for you from $15.15 a month. On VeloxaHost you install the database from the marketplace and look after it yourself.
  • You want a PaaS that builds containers. App Platform deploys from GitHub, GitLab or a container registry, with buildpacks or a Dockerfile. VeloxaHost's Git deploy installs dependencies and restarts your app, but it does not build container images.
  • You want transfer and IPv4 in the price. Every Basic Droplet includes a public IPv4 address and a published transfer allowance, with extra outbound transfer at $0.01 per GiB.
  • Your machines live for minutes. Per-second billing suits short CI jobs and burst workloads better than hourly billing.

Who should pick VeloxaHost

  • You want the same size for less. $10 a month for 1 vCPU / 2 GB / 50 GB, against $12. $40 for 4 vCPU / 8 GB / 160 GB, against $48.
  • You run websites and servers side by side. One account holds managed hosting (from $9.99 a month for 3 sites, deployed from Git, with backups on the schedule you choose) and root VPS, on one invoice.
  • You take a lot of snapshots. Snapshots come with every plan, within the size's limit, with no per-GB charge.
  • You want apps ready to go. 66 one-click apps, including WordPress, PostgreSQL, Redis, Grafana, Gitea, n8n and Ollama.
  • You want a container, not a whole VM. System containers start in seconds, and Docker runs inside them. Full virtual machines, for when you need your own kernel, are planned for regions that support them.
  • You prefer working in the browser. Every server has a browser terminal and a serial console, so you can get in without an SSH client.
  • Your users are on the US East Coast. VeloxaHost's region is in the Washington, DC area.

Migrating from DigitalOcean

There is no automatic importer. A move of one Droplet usually goes like this:

  1. List what the Droplet uses: size, disk, attached volumes, firewall rules, reserved IPs and DNS records. Pick the VeloxaHost size with the same vCPU and RAM from the table above.
  2. A day before, lower the TTL on the DNS records you will change, so the switch takes effect quickly.
  3. Create the VeloxaHost server and add your SSH key. If the Droplet ran a one-click app such as WordPress or PostgreSQL, you can start from the matching VeloxaHost marketplace app instead.
  4. Copy files with rsync over SSH. Move databases with their own tools (pg_dump and pg_restore, or mysqldump) rather than copying data files.
  5. Recreate your firewall rules. A server answers on its block of ports on the shared IPv4; ports 80 and 443 need a dedicated IPv4 address, a paid add-on with limited availability.
  6. Test the new server directly, then update DNS. Keep the Droplet running until traffic has moved, take a final snapshot if you want one, then destroy it.

For a site on App Platform, create a VeloxaHost hosting site and point it at the same Git repository and branch. Node apps install from package-lock.json or package.json, Python apps from requirements.txt, and you set the start command.

FAQ

Is VeloxaHost cheaper than DigitalOcean?

On list price for the same vCPU, RAM and disk, yes. Each Veloxa size is about one sixth below the matching Basic Droplet as of 2026-10-08, for example $10 against $12 for 1 vCPU and 2 GB. DigitalOcean includes a public IPv4 address and a transfer allowance in that price, while a dedicated IPv4 address is a separate add-on on VeloxaHost.

Does VeloxaHost have something like App Platform?

VeloxaHost hosting plans deploy PHP, Node, Python and static sites from a Git repository. A deploy pulls the branch, installs dependencies with npm or pip, and restarts the app. You can start it from the console, from a CI webhook, or on an hourly or daily schedule. It does not build from buildpacks or Dockerfiles.

Where are VeloxaHost's servers?

In one region, US East, in the Washington, DC area. More regions are planned, and the current list is shown when you create a server. DigitalOcean has 16 datacenters in 13 cities.

Does VeloxaHost offer managed databases?

No. You can deploy PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, Redis and other databases in one click from the marketplace, and you get root on the server, but upgrades and tuning are yours. If you want the provider to run the database, DigitalOcean's managed databases are the better choice.

How much bandwidth is included?

DigitalOcean lists transfer per Droplet, from 1,000 GiB on the $6 plan to 6,000 GiB on the $96 plan, with extra outbound transfer at $0.01 per GiB. VeloxaHost's plan list does not publish a transfer allowance, so if you expect heavy outbound traffic, ask support before you move.

Can I try VeloxaHost before I move?

Yes. The 14-day trial needs no credit card and covers 2 vCPU, 4 GB of RAM, 40 GB of disk and up to 2 instances. Hourly-billed VPS sizes need billing activated, even during the trial.
