VeloxaHost vs Hetzner Cloud
VeloxaHost vs Hetzner Cloud: plan-for-plan VPS prices in Europe and the US, traffic, billing and locations, and an honest answer on who should pick Hetzner.
At a glance
Hetzner prices are its US-dollar list prices as of 2026-10-08, excluding VAT and including a primary IPv4 address ($0.60 a month), which Hetzner bills separately from the server. Hetzner prices depend on the location, and rows not marked US are its Germany and Finland prices; the US and Singapore cost more. VeloxaHost prices are the standard monthly rates.

The short version: in Germany and Finland, Hetzner's Cost-Optimized CX plans are far cheaper than VeloxaHost for raw compute. Its Regular Performance CPX plans cost about the same as VeloxaHost in Europe and more in the US. Hetzner says Cost-Optimized servers run on older hardware generations and that their number is limited; when we checked, its Cost-Optimized page marked every CX and CAX plan "not available".
Who should pick Hetzner
- You want the lowest price for raw compute in Europe. When CX plans are in stock, 4 vCPU and 8 GB cost $10.59 a month against $40 on VeloxaHost. Nothing in our price list comes close to that.
- Your users or your data must be in the EU. Hetzner runs servers in Germany and Finland and describes its service as GDPR-compliant. VeloxaHost has no European region.
- You move a lot of data. EU servers include at least 20 TB of traffic a month. VeloxaHost does not publish a transfer allowance.
- You need dedicated vCPUs. Hetzner's General Purpose CCX plans give each server dedicated vCPUs for steady CPU-heavy work.
- You need more than one location. Hetzner has Germany, Finland, two US locations and Singapore. VeloxaHost has one region.
- You automate everything. Hetzner offers a REST API, a CLI, and integrations for Terraform, Ansible and Kubernetes.
Who should pick VeloxaHost
- Your servers need to be in the US. VeloxaHost lists 4 vCPU / 8 GB / 160 GB at $40 a month in US East. Hetzner's US CPX31 with the same vCPU, RAM and disk is $74.09, with 3 TB of traffic.
- You want hosting and servers in one place. Managed hosting from $9.99 a month (3 sites, deployed from Git, backups on the schedule you choose, one-click WordPress) sits next to root VPS in the same account and on one invoice.
- You want apps ready to go. 66 one-click apps, including WordPress, PostgreSQL, Redis, Grafana, Gitea, n8n and Ollama.
- You take a lot of snapshots. Snapshots come with every plan, within the size's limit, with no per-GB charge.
- You want a container, not a whole VM. System containers start in seconds, and Docker runs inside them. Full virtual machines are not offered in the current region yet.
- You prefer working in the browser. Every server has a browser terminal and a serial console.
Migrating from Hetzner
There is no automatic importer. A move of one server usually goes like this:
- Note the server's type, disk, attached volumes, firewall rules, networks and DNS records (VeloxaHost has no private networks yet). Pick the VeloxaHost size with at least the same vCPU and RAM.
- A day before, lower the TTL on the DNS records you will change.
- Create the VeloxaHost server and add your SSH key, or start from a marketplace app if the Hetzner server ran one.
- Copy files with
rsyncover SSH. Move databases with their own tools (pg_dumpandpg_restore, ormysqldump). - Recreate firewall rules. A server answers on its block of ports on the shared IPv4; ports 80 and 443 need a dedicated IPv4 address, a paid add-on with limited availability.
- Test the new server, switch DNS, and once traffic has moved, delete the Hetzner server. Hetzner bills a server until it is deleted, even when it is switched off.
FAQ
Is Hetzner cheaper than VeloxaHost?
For raw compute in Germany and Finland, usually yes. Hetzner's CX23 (2 vCPU, 4 GB) is $7.09 a month against $20 for Veloxa 2, when CX plans are available. Its Regular Performance CPX plans cost about the same as VeloxaHost in Europe, and in the US they cost more: $74.09 for 4 vCPU and 8 GB against $40.
Which Hetzner plan is the fair comparison?
It depends on what you need. CX and CAX (Cost-Optimized) use older hardware generations with limited availability. CPX (Regular Performance) is Hetzner's mainstream shared-vCPU line and is the closest match to VeloxaHost's sizes. CCX (General Purpose) has dedicated vCPUs and costs more than either.
Did Hetzner's prices change in 2026?
Yes. Hetzner adjusted cloud prices for new orders and rescales from 15 June 2026. The prices on this page are the ones Hetzner listed on 2026-10-08. If you run older Hetzner servers, check your own invoice rather than these list prices.
Where are VeloxaHost's servers?
In one region, US East, in the Washington, DC area. More regions are planned, and the current list is shown when you create a server. Hetzner has locations in Germany, Finland, the US and Singapore.
How much traffic is included?
Hetzner includes at least 20 TB a month on EU servers, 1 to 5 TB on US CPX servers depending on size, and at least 0.5 TB in Singapore, and bills overage in blocks of 100 MB. VeloxaHost's plan list does not publish a transfer allowance, so if you expect heavy outbound traffic, ask support before you move.
