Which one

Who should pick which

Pick Veloxa Build if

  • You want AI usage counted in dollars at published rates, with the cost of every message shown, rather than in tokens.
  • You build with other people: Pro includes unlimited members, no seat fees, where Bolt Teams is $30 per member.
  • You want a free site that does not go offline at a monthly traffic cap: Bolt's Free plan does, and Veloxa Build hosting never uses AI usage.
  • You also run servers, or plan to: a VeloxaHost VPS from $4/month is billed to the same VeloxaHost account.

Pick Bolt if

  • Your app takes payments: Bolt connects to Stripe, and Veloxa Build has no payments integration.
  • You want two-way GitHub sync, or to edit the code yourself in the browser.
  • You need a custom domain today, or want to buy one inside the builder.
  • You want unused AI allowance to roll over, or want to build a mobile app (Bolt uses Expo for that).
Switching

Switching from Bolt

Veloxa Build has no importer for Bolt projects, so switching means rebuilding your app in Veloxa Build, with the Bolt version as the reference.

How to move

  1. Get your files out of Bolt: click the project title, then Export, then Download for a zip file, or connect the project to GitHub.
  2. Start a project in Veloxa Build and attach what you need to your first message: images and logos, text and code files, PDFs. Attachments are saved in your project, and the AI can read the text, code and PDF files you attach.
  3. Describe the app you want, then refine it by chatting or by clicking elements in the live preview.
  4. Publish to an address like yourname.veloxa.site, and keep your Bolt app running until the new one does everything you need.

What does not carry over

  • Veloxa Build does not run a Bolt project as it is: it writes its own version from your description and the files you attach.
  • Data in Bolt's database (rows, user accounts, stored files) does not move over. Apps built here use a key-value database, so an app built around relational tables may need a different design.
  • Stripe payments do not carry over: there is no payments integration here.
  • Custom domains in Veloxa Build are coming soon, so for now the rebuilt app is published at an address like yourname.veloxa.site.
FAQ

Veloxa Build vs Bolt: questions

Is Veloxa Build cheaper than Bolt?

The two Pro plans cost the same, $25 a month, but measure AI differently. Veloxa Build Pro includes $20 of AI usage at published per-token rates, with the cost of each message shown. Bolt Pro starts at 10M tokens a month. Bolt rolls unused tokens over for two months on paid plans; Veloxa Build does not. For a team, Bolt Teams is $30 per member, and Veloxa Build Pro has no seat fees.

Can I use my own domain?

On Bolt, yes, on paid plans, and you can buy a domain inside Bolt. On Veloxa Build, custom domains are coming soon (5 on Pro); today every site is published with HTTPS at an address like yourname.veloxa.site.

Which is better for an app that takes payments?

Bolt. It connects to Stripe for one-time payments and subscriptions, and Veloxa Build has no payments integration.

Can I take my code with me?

Yes on both. Veloxa Build downloads your project as plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript on every plan, including Free, with no GitHub sync. Bolt downloads a project as a zip file and syncs it with GitHub.

Can I move a Bolt project to Veloxa Build?

Not automatically: there is no importer. Export your Bolt project as a zip, attach the files and images you need to a message in Veloxa Build, and describe the app; it builds its own version. Data in Bolt's database does not move over.
